Stacey Shells's Bio:
Stacey Shells is the Managing Director for Victory Education Partners in Chicago, IL. Last year, Stacey led a turnaround effort to increase academic performance at three charter school campuses on the South side of Chicago. Within a year, Stacey's team in Chicago increased academic growth in English language arts, math and science, and ranked in the 90th percentile of the nation of the NWEA assessment measure.
Stacey began her career as a guidance counselor in Cincinnati, Ohio, but after three years of working with inner city high school students, she realized that she wanted to focus her energy of academic achievement. Stacey is an alumnae member of Teach for America, where she taught in Baltimore, MD. After leaving Baltimore, Stacey continued teaching for another 5 years in New York City public schools.
In 2005, Stacey was recruited by Uncommon Schools to develop and open their first upstate middle school in 2006. In 2009, her founding class of students ranked #6 in the state of NY for English language arts on the New York state test. Stacey also opened Uncommon's first upstate elementary campus which now serves students grades k-4.
